BLANC KARA

— French Art Deco taking over Miami

Hotel located on Miami South Beach, Blanc Kara and its “Art de Vivre à la Française” position itself as a nest of tranquility for international travellers. As part of the original creative team, Coast has worked on a branding & marketing level to make the destination unique.

An original hotel in the best spot: South of fifth

Located on Collins avenue in the South of fifth neighborhood, the hotel is right at the perfect spot. Surrounded by the sea and at Miami's surfer’s point, south of fifth is also a little art deco gem, where buildings have a story. Our work was to use that story, and mix it with the owner roots from France.

The feeling of golden days Art Deco

The logotype design, inspired by the Art Deco movement is an original typeface creation. Translating the hotel style, the custom typeface is designed to be applied to the hotel communication tools.

A place that inspires relaxation and well-being in the heart of an iconic district was our identity response. The communication uses the typographic codes and a tone that invites tranquility.

The Art Deco custom typeface

Inspired by the iconic typefaces of the 1930s, the Blanc Kara typeface is distinguished by a contemporary interpretation. More open, less connoted, this font allows use in a large number of communication elements: from signage to printing.

The Hotel : a nest of tranquility

Small boutique hotel with less than 40 rooms, the hotel offers a bright atmosphere between white and black with a few touches of color. The architects of the buildings are Delacroix Friant.

Our first intervention was to integrate, within the decoration of the hotel, a gallery of original photographs. For this, we worked with fashion photographer Serge Leblon to create the story of a love trio. Shot in Miami a few months before the opening, this photo novel appears on the walls of the hotel and creates a soft romantic backdrop.

Lifestyle products available at the hotel store

We have created a set of items sold in the hotel store such as t-shirts, bags, soaps and bathroom towels. In addition to its classic elements, we have also created note pads and pencils, postcards or...condom boxes.

We imagined and designed an original album for the hotel. Produced by Darko and written and recorded by Marc Colin from the French band Nouvelle vague, the album “Blanc Kara Soundtrack” was released before the hotel opened and was sold in a few iconic places in Miami and in France.

The local directory as ambassador

The hotel directory was initiated like a magazine. Using essential information from the hotel, we created and produced the Gazette, a hybrid format between magazine and travel guide that shows the different faces of Miami through multiple interviews. Steven Giles from the Base concept store, Laure Heriard Dubreuil from the Webster store or Mauricio from the Martin Margiela store gave us their best local and shared addresses in Miami.

The digital experience

A patchwork of the Hotel views and Miami as backdrop serve has the website main attraction.
